E-asy does it!
Did you know that Learning Services provides 60,885 electronic books and 16,304 electronic journals for students and staff across all areas of study?
All our e-resources are easily accessible 24/7 through the Library Catalogue, whether you’re on or off campus – so you can do your research whenever and wherever you like. And because they’ve been chosen by Edge Hill tutors and librarians, you can be sure these e-resources are high quality and appropriate for academic study (unlike those you might find through Google).
In 2010, our e-books were accessed 1,103,873 times and there were 482,877 downloads of e-journal articles. So next time you’re researching a topic why not make use of our electronic resources – there’s a wealth of information out there waiting for you.
To find out more about e-resources relevant to your subject, take a look at the Resources section of the Learning Services web pages: http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/ls/resources/

New wiki site and support tool for Edge Hill staff
Learning Services has recently launched a new wiki site which is available to the whole staffing community of the University. This new resource offers staff important information about our department and the key areas where we can offer help and support to ensure that staff get the best use of our staff resources and services.
There will be a number of ways in which we will promote the new resource but we thought we would start with an item in our news.
Key highlights include information about the various Teaching and Learning systems which we manage on the University’s behalf; Help with Media and ICT; Planning for new modules and programmes; and Getting the best out of Blackboard.
For staff, the wiki can be accessed via http://go.edgehill.ac.uk/ls
Also from the current University Intranet homepage – choose a-z of departments and then Learning Services.
Feedback is very much welcome. There is a feedback form within the pages to encourage staff to let us know if they found what they wanted or feel anything is missing. We encourage all staff to take a look; you can comment on the news and information blog or send us suggestions via the wiki itself. We will also be holding focus groups with staff in the near future to evaluate and reflect and ensure the wiki is helpful and informative.

Help and support via our new on-line videos
We are aware we have got lots of new CPD students who have started modules this term, many of you who may be working off campus or via distance learning. To support our students who may not be able to get on campus or contact us during our opening hours, we have produced a number of videos to help with getting started.
We have quite a wide collection of support videos but key to those first few weeks are:
- Information about your password
- Accessing your reading list
- Introduction to Blackboard
- Requesting and renewing your books
- Using electronic resources
To see the complete list of videos access via our web pages
We have also got lots of FAQS on our web pages
Please give us your feedback if you have other ideas for videos we could produce to help students working off campus
