• Library opening hours Christmas vacation 2011

    The University Library will change its opening hours w-c 19th December 2011 to the following

    Mon 19th and Tues 20th: 8.30am – 9pm

    Weds 21st and Thurs 22nd:  8.30am – 5pm

    Please note the 8.30am opening this week

    The University closes from Friday 23rd December 2011 – 2nd January 2012 inclusive, however for the fourth year running, and after postive feedback from previous years, the University Library at Ormskirk will once again be open for two extra days during the Christmas break.

    Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th December 2011

    9am – 5pm

    The open access computers in the LINC will be accessible 24-7, with a valid Unicard, throughout the Christmas and New Year break

    All Learning Services buildings will have altered opening hours over the Christmas vacation so please check on the website for full details or e-mail [email protected]

    Just a quick reminder that  we start our Bridging the Gap drop-ins on Tuesday 6th December.   

    We are here to help you improve your research and writing skills and be me more confident.

    Drop in with your questions. How do I …….

    …. find a journal article?

    …..reference an e-book?

    …..plan an essay?

    …..structure an essay?

    All your (library) questions answered! Ask about finding books, e-books, journal articles for your subject area. Get handy hints and tips on where to search and how to find relevant researched based information. Think quality and use the information that is available for you through the university’s library catalogue. Librarians will be on hand to answer your research based questions.

    We want to provide support now that you are getting going with your assignments. Structuring an essay and referencing can be a bit daunting when you are new to it. Drop in and ask.  Avoid the common pitfalls, Academic Skills Advisors will be promoting appropriate ways to tackle you assignments and help you bridge the gap.
