Your chance to see the new broadcast TV Studio
Developing Digital Excellence Event Thursday 13th February 1.00pm
This Thursday, the TV Studio Manager Ian Steel will be leading a tour of the new broadcast HD TV Studio in Creative Edge.
Staff from across the University are invited along to come and see the cameras, lighting and mixing galleries within the studio.
The studio houses industry standard broadcast equipment with:
- Camera channels operated via either a studio configuration or hand held
- Production galleries and control rooms with reference lighting
- Totally tapeless workflow with a media asset management system
- Fully independent talk back system to all studio areas
Here is a list of some of our equipment media students’ use in the studio:
- Sony and JVC HD Camera channels
- Sony and For-A HVS Vision Mixers
- Black magic design HD Router
- Editshare media asset management system
- Large Chroma Key infinity wall
- Fully populated motorised lighting rig
Come along and find out some more about these amazing facilities.
We are limited to 15 on the tour and if you are coming along, please ensure you have flat shoes (sorry no heels due to the studio flooring).

New Look for Literature Online
Literature Online (LION) has a brand new platform that is now live. This brings Literature Online in line with all the other literature collections that Edge Hill University subscribes to from ProQuest. These include the British Periodicals and Periodicals Archive Online.
Literature Online provides information about authors and their works it remains a great tool for serious literature research with its fresh new look and improved powerful search engine.
Literature Online contains:
- Over 350,000 works of poetry, drama and prose.
- Over 20,000 author pages.
- An ever expanding library of specialist, scholarly full-text journals.
- Major reference works from Routledge, Columbia University Press, and others.
- Critical essays, dictionaries and student guides.
Use it to find articles on the literary period you are studying by searching across the 350 full text journals. You may not be aware that there is also all 38 of Shakespeare’s plays in dramatised recordings and nearly 90 poets on screen filmed readings.
Take a look and try a search on Literature Online today and find just what you are looking for. Literature Online can be accessed through the resources on the English and History subject web pages.

New resources for Edge Hill Alumni
Learning Services are pleased to announce that we have recently extended the licence to a number of eResources which means our Alumni can now access over 2,700 eJournals. These journals are part of collections from 4 publishers.
JSTOR contains high-quality, interdisciplinary content. It includes over 1,500 leading academic journals across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences, as well as some books.
Emerald publishes in the fields of management disciplines from marketing, human resources management, and quality and operations management. This collection contains 175 journals.
Project MUSE is a provider of digital humanities and social science content. MUSE has full-text available from 185 scholarly journals and societies.
The collection from Sage provides full text access to over 600 journals dating from 1999 onwards. Journals include those from learned societies and institutions, and across a broad range of subjects including business, humanities, social sciences, and science & technology.
Our Alumni members can access these at home using the Edge Hill library catalogue, all you need is your library number and PIN.
These new eResources are in addition to the other services already available to Alumni who have joined the Alumni network.
We also offer:
- Access any of our staffed libraries – Ormskirk, Aintree, Manchester and Chorley.
- Joining the library and borrow 5 books
- Use of reference copies our print books and journals. You can also make copies, please ask at the help desk and purchase a photocopy card. (Copyright rules apply)
- Read newspapers (University Library, Ormskirk)
- Use study facilities e.g. silent study areas
- Use a number of educational and academic electronic resources as a day visitor. We provide one PC for visitor access. Visitors can use these resources under the terms of the walk in user license. Please ask at the help desk
