Live Chat!
Learnin
g Services is now offering another way to support our online users through Live Chat.
Live Chat enables us to provide you with instant real-time help and support no matter where you are.
So, how does it work?
To access this service go to our webpage or to the library catalogue and click on the Live Chat icon. A box will pop up where you can type and enter your question. A member of library staff will instantly pick up your message and will type and send a response. You can then chat sending messages back and forth until the query is resolved. You can ask anything about our services and resources! It is a great alternative to ringing the ‘Telephone Support’ line or e-mailing.
This service is available Monday to Friday 10am – 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12noon – 4pm. For more information visit http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/ls/livechat

Result of the trial for Pier Professional Journals
At the end of last year we had a trial of the complete collection of Journals from Pier Professional. Pier Professional publishes journals in healthcare, social care and allied fields. There are 23 journals in the collection. Feedback was positive and a decision was made to take out a subscription for the whole collection. New titles include Journal of Children’s Services, Mental Health and Social Inclusion, Journal of Integrated Care and Journal of Assistive Technologies. Online access back to the first issue is available. The entire collection can be searched as a full text database or each journal can be browsed separately. All titles have been added to the library catalogue and the collection can be accessed here. At the end of 2011 we will review our usage statistics and make a decision whether to renew in 2012.
