“Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him…” Hamlet (Act 5, Scene 1)

And hopefully you do too after a fantastic week of Shakespeare puns, plays and competitions!

It appears you were all very keen to welcome a little light relief to your stressful studying to play along with our #WhereforeArtThouWilliam competition last week. We had lots of entries into the daily prize draws and with puntastic prizes such as these who wouldn’t want to join in…

Prizes

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death (also his birthday!) we posted a series of unusual photographs on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook inviting you to guess the PLACE on campus and the PLAY from the hidden clues!

Some days were a little bit trickier than others, so we did send out a clue or two, but we were able to give away a prize each day as well as a big bag of Shakespeare and Learning Services goodies to one lucky winner!

Winners

And on the big day itself, Saturday 23rd April, we celebrated even further with a FREE book give away as part of World Book Night. Although it is a very busy time of year for our students it is also important to take a break from stressful workloads…and what better way to escape reality than reading for pleasure!

There was one small catch to getting your hands on a free book – you had to take a #SelfieWithShakespeare (well, it was his birthday after all!) This was also in support of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust campaign.
