Do you struggle with referencing? Are you not sure of the difference between proofreading and editing? Then our fantastic Moving Forward With UniSkills webinars could be right up your street! They’re designed as a follow up to the Getting Started With UniSkills webinars that we ran earlier in the year, but if you didn’t attend those sessions, don’t worry you can still to come along to this one. They’re co-designed and co-delivered by your Student Advisors, myself (Lauren) and Charlotte and are useful for first year students who want to start developing their academic skills further or for anyone just wanting a refresher on the basics.
This webinar offers peer to peer support and advice to help make referencing and proofreading more manageable. These two topics often cause a lot of anxiety for students, but improving these skills can really boost your grades. We both know that referencing and proofreading can be difficult and it takes time to develop these skills, so we’ve compiled our top tips that you can try out for yourself.
We’ll teach you some great strategies for proofreading, such as what common mistakes to look out for, how to use a proofreading checklist and what resources can help. We’ll also share our top referencing tips that we’ve picked up during our time at Edge Hill and what handy referencing tools are available, such as RefWorks, to make it easier for you to get to grips with.
If that sounds like something you’ll benefit from then join us online every day next week (15th – 19th March) between 12:15pm – 12:45pm – just choose whichever day is most convenient for you! Visit the UniSkills web pages to find all the info you need to log into the student portal and book your place – there’s even a handy short video explaining how to book on.
I look forward to seeing you all there!
