Good afternoon one and all
It’s been a couple of weeks since my last blog and thought I’d give you all an update on what I’ve been up to. Once everyone is back in Uni and things are in full swing we shall endeavour to keep our blogs weekly so you can keep up to date with everything we are doing at the SU.
Anyway, my week started very brightly what with a Bank Holiday Monday to top off a weekend that saw my beloved United thrash Arsenal 8-2 🙂 This week also saw the start of my introductory talks with the Dean of the Faculty of Education. Along with Partnerships we are aiming to talk to every single new student arriving into our faculty. It was PGCE Primary students who had the blessing of hearing from us first, and if any of you are reading this I hope you had a great day and were able to take something from my presentation!
In the last few weeks your elected exec (Colin, Billy, Natalie and myself) have been organising some of the campaigns we are hoping to run this year. I won’t say too much just yet but rest assured every single thing discussed so far has been to benefit you as students. After all that is our sole purpose!
The Hub is almost there and the plan is for us to move in next week. Despite what you or I may think about the building, I have to admit it does look mightily impressive and I am looking forward to us moving into a more accessible, visible office for students.
There has been the obvious chuckles and concerns here in the SU about those freshers who are having to move into Pontins in Southport. Despite this however we have been fighting to ensure students get the best from this experience and don’t feel too isolated. As far as I’m aware there are going to buses provided for students both in Southport and in Liverpool for the duration of Freshers Week!
Finally after meeting so many different people over the last few weeks during Open Days, enrolments, induction days etc, combined with us finalising who is doing what during Freshers Week, it’s safe to say I’m now ready for all you students to arrive back. The campus has had its peace and quiet for the summer and I’m sure it’s going to be a whole different ball game in a few weeks time.
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing each and every one of you soon. If you want to ask anything please don’t hesitate to contact me.
