As Spring arrives and we embrace sunnier days, read on to discover the incredible work being undertaken by our Student Advisory Panel.
Since we last caught up, we have been busy hosting more Student Advisory Panels and working with panel members as co-producers to ensure active and ongoing collaboration between students and stakeholders.
Member insights provide real perspectives into how we can improve our offer and the services which affect all students to ensure we are making Edge Hill inclusive to the needs of our diverse student body!
As always, a huge thank you to all the speakers and panel members who participate and make our Panels so interesting and valuable!
What have we been up to?
In the last few months, we have met with numerous teams across Edge Hill and have held the following panels:
- Pre-entry activity and our Coaching Conversations offer for first year students on our Thrive programme – Student Success Team
- A new Social Prescribing service for all students – Wellbeing Team
- Supporting the production of a draft assessment policy through consideration of assessment volume, design, timing and support at EHU – Academic Team
Here is a flavour of some of the considerations we have passed on to the speakers;
- Ways to develop the Pre-entry / Coaching Conversations component of the Thrive programme for 2025/26 first year students.
- Ways to enhance communications to provide full transparency and details of accessibility for all social events aimed at students.
- Ways to ensure the diverse needs of students are considered in assessment practices.
What’s Coming Next?

With the end of term fast approaching, we have two more panels scheduled in for this academic year with colleagues from our Wellbeing, Careers and Widening Access teams.
This is also the time of year that speakers will be provided with the opportunity to feedback on their progress with the considerations we asked them to take forward. This enables Panel members to recognise the impact of participating in the Panel and confidently see the value of their contributions. We then look forward to sharing this detail with our members in our end of year celebration event which we are currently busy planning. This provides members with a chance to celebrate all the hard work they have put into the panels over the last year, a chance to reflect on what changes are being considered and implemented in light of their panel feedback and offers the chance to look ahead at the future of the Panels.
Look out for our final blog of the academic year where we will share how the celebration event went and how students can use their experience as a Panel member to start to reflect on how they have developed their graduate attributes and apply for the Extra Edge Award.
