Delivered by UK Parliament’s Knowledge Exchange Unit, this practical workshop gives an overview of the workings of the UK Parliament and how Parliament uses research to inform policy.

It will explain the various ways in which researchers can engage with Parliament, including information about giving evidence to Select Committees and effective use of the House of Commons and Lords libraries and the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) Parliament’s in-house source of independent analysis of public-policy issues related to science and technology.

It will also include discussion of how to communicate research in a policy context.  You will leave with an understanding of the importance of research to the policy arena and able to identify opportunities to feed your research into Parliament’s work.
