The Past and Present Society invites applications for its conference grants. These support organisers of conferences and workshops, and in particular events that bring together senior scholars with early-career researchers.

Scholars of any status may apply. Applicants are expected to approach their own institutions as well as other funding bodies where possible, since the society does not normally meet the full costs of the event. They should provide the research questions underpinning the conference, and its likely intellectual value and contribution to the discipline. Grants for annual conferences as well as grants sought retrospectively are not considered.

Grants are worth up to £5,000, and cover registration fees, accommodation and travel costs.

The Past and Present Society invites applications for its grants for other events and initiatives. These support events that promote the discipline of history in a manner in keeping with the society’s aims.

Applications from individuals, societies, educational bodies, cultural and heritage organisations that have an interest in the promotion of the understanding of the past are accepted.

Grants are worth up to £5,000. In exceptional circumstances requests greater than this amount may be accepted.
