Health technology assessment programme – mental health themed call: 17/113, 17/152

The National Institute for Health Research invites applications for its mental health themed call, under the health technology assessment programme. This supports research for the promotion of good mental health and the prevention or treatment of mental ill health, with a particular focus on the issues identified as priority areas for research by James Lind Alliance priority setting partnerships. These partnerships aim to enable patients, carers and clinicians to come together on an equal footing to identify research questions, and then to prioritise these. Funding also supports other themes in mental health research, in relation to the clinical and cost effectiveness and broader impact of healthcare treatments and tests for those who plan, provide or receive care in the NHS. Proposals must address an area where some evidence already exists to show that a technology can be effective and this needs to be compared to the current standard NHS intervention to see which works best.
