On Wednesday, December the 2nd, 2020, third year students in the “Religion in the 21st Century” module attended an online lecture and discussion session with the founder of Astronism, Cometan.

Cometan provided us with a comprehensive overview (going back to prehistoric times!) of what is meant generally by space religion and more specifically, Astronism. This followed by an engaging discussion with students on the specific of Astronist philosophy and practice.

You can watch the session via Cometan’s youtube here.

Cometan hails from Preston and is currently doing a PhD on the freedom of religion at the University of Central Lancashire. More details on Astronism and Cometan can be found here:

On behalf of the department and the students, I would like to thank Cometan for this really enjoyable session, and look forward to may more discussions in the future.
