Experiential approaches to religious education

The RE team have always tried to teach using interesting and innovative approaches in higher education and this year we have explored the concept of experiential learning. Taking part time, full time and PGCE trainees to ruff woods, the world museum, the Anglican cathedral and the university’s grounds we have helped students to reflect on how to encourage deep learning about religion by experiencing it. We have used outdoor learning to start to understand the social and secular sacred, spirituality and explore creative approaches to teaching RE.
