The role of a Student Advisor is to provide help, support and guidance to other students on a peer to peer basis.\u00a0The team are all current second, third year or Masters students and between them they bring a great variety of subject knowledge and experience, using all of that to support other students on their own University journey.<\/p>\n<p>The support they provide revolves around getting the most out of your Library.\u00a0They can help with searching the Library Catalogue for books and eBooks, using Discover More to find online journal articles, navigating Learning Edge, Harvard referencing and finding and accessing UniSkills academic support. Students can book onto a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/uni-skills\/?tab=student-advisors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1-1 appointment<\/a> with me to help find electronic and physical resources, with referencing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/discover-more\/?utm_source=ehuacuk&amp;utm_medium=lshome&amp;utm_campaign=discovermore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover More<\/a> and with any general enquiries they have about the VLE. We also offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/uni-skills\/?tab=student-advisors\">1 to 1 appointments<\/a> where we can support with assignment planning, note taking and referencing. My role is to support students. I can help and assist students with several things such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helping student access the online library catalogue (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/discover-more\/?utm_source=ehuacuk&amp;utm_medium=lshome&amp;utm_campaign=discovermore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover More<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Help students find learning materials E.g. Books, eBooks, CDs, DVDs, Teaching Resources.<\/li>\n<li>How students can access a free television service called <a href=\"https:\/\/capitadiscovery.co.uk\/edgehill\/items\/250561?resultsUri=https%3A%2F%2Fcapitadiscovery.co.uk%2Fedgehill%2Fitems%3Fquery%3Dbox%2Bof%2Bbroadcasts#availability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Box of Broadcasts<\/a> and a free online course site called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/lynda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learning with Lynda<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Helping student access and use the online Learning Edge.<\/li>\n<li>Hosting 1-2-1 sessions on things like Harvard Referencing, Microsoft Office Basics, Learning Edge and many more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are many roles we under go as Student Advisors, but most of all we are here to share our knowledge and first hand experience as students ourselves. I help students find books, improve their referencing and navigate online resources through \u2018Getting Started\u2019 workshops as well as much more. I can help students with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/uni-skills\/?tab=referencing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard referencing<\/a> or searching for journal articles on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/discover-more\/?utm_source=ehuacuk&amp;utm_medium=lshome&amp;utm_campaign=discovermore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discover More<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My job as a Student Advisor also involves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Delivering peer to peer support to other students<\/li>\n<li>Helping to locate physical and virtual resources within the library<\/li>\n<li>Providing individual help with Harvard Referencing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The best part of my job is helping to make students feel welcome in an unfamiliar environment.
