{"id":7373,"date":"2016-03-15T11:20:12","date_gmt":"2016-03-15T11:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/?p=7373"},"modified":"2016-03-15T14:46:19","modified_gmt":"2016-03-15T14:46:19","slug":"learning-services-staff-are-edge-hill-students-for-the-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/2016\/03\/15\/learning-services-staff-are-edge-hill-students-for-the-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Services staff are Edge Hill students for the day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week 8 staff from Learning Services will join\u00a0staff from across the University to find out what it&#8217;s like to be a student for the day! \u00a0The aim of the Student For A Day project is for Edge Hill staff to get a better understanding of what it&#8217;s like to be a modern day student here at the University.<\/p>\n<p>Learning Services staff will accompany a student for a full day and experience all aspects of University life. This will include lectures, library visits, use of other services such as food outlets, society activities etc, even going to lectures and seminars with them (although they won&#8217;t be writing any essays!).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/03\/Student-for-a-Day.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7378\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7378\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2016\/03\/Student-for-a-Day-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Student for a Day\" width=\"301\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a>A wide variety of staff from across the Service have volunteered to take part in the project to get a better insight into the student experience. Chris McCabe and Claire Hallworth from Customer Services, Joan Cullen from the SpLD team, Kate Johnson, Paul Reece, Michelle O&#8217;Connell and Louise Speakman from Academic Support and Meg Juss, Learning Technology Development Manager, are all looking forward to taking part.<\/p>\n<p>The project is being managed by a group of staff on the University&#8217;s Development of Potential programme. \u00a0Our very own Help and Support Co-ordinator, Kathy Kinsella, is part of this years cohort and has been instrumental in getting the project off the ground. \u00a0Kathy says &#8220;The Student for a Day project gives staff a unique opportunity to walk in the shoes of our students and develop a real life understanding from the student\u2019s perspective. \u00a0By capturing the participant\u2019s insight on what aspects of the student experience work well and which areas can potentially be improved we hope to develop the delivery of our service going forward&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We wish our staff the best of luck!<\/p>\n<p>Helen Jamieson, Customer Services Manager<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2011\/02\/Helen_Jamieson.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1082\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1082\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2011\/02\/Helen_Jamieson.jpg\" alt=\"Helen_Jamieson\" width=\"100\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week 8 staff from Learning Services will join\u00a0staff from across the University to find out what it&#8217;s like to be a student for the day!
