{"id":4893,"date":"2013-01-07T15:30:02","date_gmt":"2013-01-07T15:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/?p=4893"},"modified":"2013-01-07T15:30:02","modified_gmt":"2013-01-07T15:30:02","slug":"welcome-back-to-exams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/2013\/01\/07\/welcome-back-to-exams\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome back to\u2026.Exams!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This time of year sees a new start and resolutions for many people but for large groups of our students, it\u2019s also exam time.\u00a0 Not something people probably relish at this time of year, so we are here to help.<\/p>\n<p>We are running an<strong> exam revision session<\/strong> on:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ehstudyskills2012.eventbrite.com\/\">Wednesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> January 2013 1.00pm \u2013 2.00pm. Learning and Innovation Centre (LINC) 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Floor<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exams are designed to test students as individuals under controlled conditions, so that they can demonstrate their capabilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>There are a number of techniques that can help to improve exam performance and we will take you through some of the best strategies.<strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>This session will include:<\/strong><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>Note taking<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Revision skills<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Time management<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Learning styles<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Mnemonics<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have exams over the next few weeks or want to start your preparation and planning for your exams at the end of the year, please book a place and come and join us.<\/p>\n<p>This session is part of our programme \u2018Steps to Academic Success\u2019 and we have a <a href=\"http:\/\/ehstudyskills2012.eventbrite.com\/\">whole timetable for semester 2. <\/a>\u00a0Over the next few weeks we will be launching the programme and encouraging students to book on-line.\u00a0 We will also be promoting things which get us really excited, for example, key resources and continuing the EHU loves reading campaign by showcasing books from the Costa book awards!.<\/p>\n<p>We have got a variety of support sessions and activities for staff and students over the coming months so happy new year everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes<\/p>\n<p>Rachel<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This time of year sees a new start and resolutions for many people but for large groups of our students, it\u2019s also exam time.\u00a0 Not something people probably relish at this time of year, so we are here to help.
