{"id":4675,"date":"2012-10-29T16:51:02","date_gmt":"2012-10-29T16:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/?p=4675"},"modified":"2012-12-11T10:28:09","modified_gmt":"2012-12-11T10:28:09","slug":"developing-digital-excellence-november-staff-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/2012\/10\/29\/developing-digital-excellence-november-staff-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing Digital Excellence &#8211; November staff development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Web Link: LS Staff Wiki\" href=\"https:\/\/go.edgehill.ac.uk\/wiki\/display\/ls\/Staff+Development\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4827\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2012\/10\/digital_uni-166x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"166\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2012\/10\/digital_uni-166x300.jpg 166w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/ls\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2012\/10\/digital_uni.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a>Learning Services\u2019 focus for staff development is on effective use of technologies; in the classroom, the office, interacting with students or undertaking research.\u00a0 In November we have an extensive range of events across all four strands.\u00a0 Here are some examples of events we are running across the month.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<strong> The Digital Classroom<\/strong> &#8211; using SMART board technology<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The Digital Office<\/strong> &#8211; Learning Edge Getting started, essential skills for tutors; Powerpoint\u00a0&#8211; Enhancing your on-screen presentations, a session for competent users of Powerpoint; and\u00a0advanced features of word processing, again a session for those competent in using Word.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The Digital Practitioner<\/strong> &#8211; we have a session looking at sharing content via our repository eShare, this session will include cake!; get to know about the use of Assignment Handler; and using Campus Pack, a social learning platform that integrates social media tools such as wikis, blogs, and podcasts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 The Digital Researcher<\/strong> &#8211; we have 11 sessions in November.\u00a0 We have developed these sessions in collaboration with the Research Support Office.\u00a0 To highlight couple of events we have &#8211; copyright and intellectual property rights; impact factors and how these can be used in terms of publishing; and effective information search strategies.<\/p>\n<p>These are just a selection of what we are running in November.\u00a0 We have created an area within our Learning Services staff wiki so you can see at a glance what is covered in each strand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/go.edgehill.ac.uk\/wiki\/display\/ls\/Staff+Development\">https:\/\/go.edgehill.ac.uk\/wiki\/display\/ls\/Staff+Development<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We will also disseminate information about the sessions via email,\u00a0 and the HR wiki.\u00a0 The programme is extensive and we suggest you use our wiki to find out more and check dates, plan your development and then book via the HR wiki.
