Want to know if you might be dyslexic?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Have you tried the new online dyslexia checklist on the Inclusive Services website?<\/p>\n

In the last 10 months 751 students have accessed the online dyslexia checklist.<\/p>\n

An online dyslexia checklist is available from the Inclusive Services website: http:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/inclusiveservices\/disabilities\/checklist<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The checklist is an interactive questionnaire that allows you to find out if you have indicators of dyslexia and what to do next if you have.<\/p>\n

Once completed, a score is calculated and you will be given guidance on whether you need further assessment with the SpLD Support Team based on the first floor of the University Library.<\/p>\n

Specific learning difficulties arise from a different way of thinking\/processing information in relation to working memory\/short-term memory, visual-motor and auditory processing.<\/p>\n

Why not try the dyslexia checklist to see what support you might need and how to access it.\u00a0 The earlier you come to see us, the sooner we can support you.<\/p>\n

After graduating in 1999, I started working as Inclusive Learning Facilitator supporting disabled students in their day-to-day studies. During that time I embarked on a PhD in Critical Criminology and taught criminology as a sessional tutor. After being assessed as dyslexic, I decided to take qualifications in dyslexia support to compliment my facilitator role and improve my skills in student support. Having qualified, I began supporting dyslexic students at Edge Hill as a sessional advisor; a job I loved above my other roles at Edge Hill. In 2004 Learning Services launched the Edge Ahead Centre (Now Inclusive Services) to provide study support for all learners, including dyslexic students. In 2004 I decided to move away from my teaching and facilitation roles and applied for a full-time post and a Learning and Skills Advisor with the Edge Ahead team. In 2006 I was appointed as SpLD Coordinator and in 2010 I was appointed as the SpLD Support team manager. I live locally with my partner of 12 years and we have a very happy home with 2 lovely dogs, a west highland white terrier called Millie and a miniature schnauzer called Archie. We love walking and camping and we have a touring caravan.
