{"id":3913,"date":"2015-03-10T09:30:54","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T09:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/?p=3913"},"modified":"2015-03-09T14:41:01","modified_gmt":"2015-03-09T14:41:01","slug":"collaborate-rooms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/2015\/03\/10\/collaborate-rooms\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaborate \u2018Rooms&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #808080\">\u2026 a 24\/7 classroom and\/or your own \u2018Virtual Office&#8217;.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The recent upgrade to our Collaborate web conferencing system has added a \u2018Rooms\u2019 feature \u2013 i.e., every course and every instructor now have their own Collaborate \u2018Room\u2019 that is open 24\/7 \u2013 with all the rich features of a web conferencing system such as audio, web cameras and the ability to see each other\u2019s computer screens.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d like to encourage you to use your tutor room as a \u2018Virtual Office\u2019 for student tutorials, 1-2-1 feedback, or even research interviews (making recording a doddle!).<\/p>\n<p>The only thing you need to do is to add a link to let students access it.\u00a0 An easy option would be to add a \u2018Tool Link\u2019 in the course.\u00a0 Do this by clicking the Add Menu Item icon (the large + sign on the top left menu), selecting Tool Link that will bring up the Add Tool Link box (see the picture), and then enter:<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/11\/CollabToolLink.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3914\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/11\/CollabToolLink-300x145.png\" alt=\"CollabToolLink\" width=\"300\" height=\"145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/11\/CollabToolLink-300x145.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/11\/CollabToolLink.png 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blackboard Collaborate into the Name box<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Blackboard Collaborate Scheduling Manager<\/strong> from the drop down box<\/li>\n<li>Tick \u2018Available to\u00a0Users\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Click submit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can drag the tool link up the left hand panel to put it somewhere more sensible \u2013 perhaps near the Content item?<\/p>\n<p>When students click on the link they will see all the Collaborate rooms and sessions in the course area \u2013 including your room.<\/p>\n<p>There are other ways of linking to your tutor room \u2013 and you can also send out email links that anyone can use to get into your room &#8211;
