BOS is the University supported survey tool which is easy to use and allows you to create, deploy and analyse surveys.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/09\/BOS-features.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3726\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/09\/BOS-features.png\" alt=\"BOS features\" width=\"274\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/09\/BOS-features.png 455w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2014\/09\/BOS-features-327x300.png 327w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 274px) 100vw, 274px\" \/><\/a>The new version will look and feel different, with many features which will enhance the functionality within the <strong>survey design<\/strong>, <strong>completion<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>analysis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">BOS will also be <strong>mobile friendly<\/strong> which makes it easier for participants\u00a0to complete surveys on their mobile phones or tablets \u2013 hopefully this will increase your returns!\u00a0 You can even allow sharing of surveys via <strong>Facebook, Twitter <\/strong>or <strong>Google+.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>So, what do I need to do in preparation?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>If you already have some surveys in your BOS account, please review them and close or delete any that you no longer need. This will greatly help to reduce the migration time.<\/p>\n<p>We have also been advised that any unlaunched surveys with a close date set at over 2 years ago will not be migrated. If you need to keep a survey that this applies to, please ensure you modify the close date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Upgrade Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The upgrade will happen towards the end of October this year. During this time, we will experience some downtime (estimated to be a day) on our University BOS account and all active surveys will be temporarily unavailable. Principle 5 of the Data Protection Act is particularly pertinent here: \u201c<em>Personal data processed for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes<\/em>.\u201d If you don\u2019t have any specific reasons to hold on to the data, then it <strong>should be deleted<\/strong>.
