being released too early?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the imminent conclusion of Semester 2 on the horizon and marking being at an increasingly busy time we&#8217;ve had quite a number of calls regarding the premature release of grades to students. \u00a0Many pieces of work will be submitted and marked over this period and after Easter &#8211; using many different e-assessment tools to do so.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 3 main tools available for e-submission of assignments (not including gradeable tools such as blogs, wikis, journals and tests. \u00a0These are [Blackboard] <strong>Assignment<\/strong>, <strong>Turnitin<\/strong> and <strong>Assignment Handler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also the <strong>Grade Centre<\/strong> that collates the grades and feedback in a table for tutors to refer to and also\u00a0<strong>My Grades<\/strong> for students to view their marks and feedback. \u00a0If using [Blackboard] <span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong>Assignment<\/strong> <\/span>or <span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong>Turnitin<\/strong><\/span>, you will have to do the following if you wish to prevent students seeing their grades too early;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Hide <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">My Grades<\/span> <\/strong><em>and<strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Tools<\/span><\/strong><\/em> from your Programme or Module area. \u00a0It comes as default in most areas.<\/li>\n<li>Hide the column (from users) in the Grade Centre of the grades until they are ready to be released.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you are using <span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong>Assignment Handler<\/strong><\/span> [Edge Hill Assignment] then it will do all the work for you as long as when you set it up you put in the correct &#8216;release&#8217; details.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333;font-style: normal;line-height: 24px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eshare.edgehill.ac.uk\/3068\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Avoiding premature release of grades\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eshare.edgehill.ac.uk\/3068\/\" target=\"_blank\">There is a guide available<\/a> to help you set up your assignments and columns correctly. \u00a0It is worth doing this now for your end of term submissions!<\/p>\n<p>More information about managing the columns in Grade Centre <a title=\"Create\/Manage additional columns in Grade Centre\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eshare.edgehill.ac.uk\/3069\/\" target=\"_blank\">can be found in this document.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This gives details on how to hide or show columns in the tutor view of the Grade Centre as opposed to hiding the grades to students (as in the above document).<\/p>\n<p>Please share this information with your colleagues as it may also help them in managing their
