Her objectives were to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Facilitate group collaboration using tools like discussion boards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assign a module tutor to each group, who would also handle the assessment grading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable the module leader to oversee grading, especially for newer staff members needing moderated marking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a system for creating signup sheets for students to attend workshops.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of this was achieved by using the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Learn\/Instructor\/Ultra\/Interact\/Course_Groups\/Create_Groups\">Groups tool<\/a> within Blackboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"367\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab-1024x367.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab-1024x367.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab-300x107.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab-768x275.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab-1536x550.png 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups0ab-2048x733.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Groups of Students working together on Discussion Boards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>Group Set<\/strong> was created called <strong>Learning Sets<\/strong>.&nbsp;Once a Group Set is created it can be applied to discussion boards, tests and assignments.  In this example students were manually divided into 6 groups; each group was clearly labelled with the name of the tutor leading the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups1-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"602\" height=\"457\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups1-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups1-1.png 602w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/Groups1-1-300x228.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a new discussion topic was created, this was applied to the groups via Discussion Settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/groups3-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"602\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/groups3-1.png\" alt=\"Click on Discussion Settings to apply groups to the discussion.\n\" class=\"wp-image-12147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/groups3-1.png 602w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2024\/07\/groups3-1-300x243.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using this method, students can only see posts from other members of their group.&nbsp; For more information on how to set this up visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/learningedge.edgehill.ac.uk\/ultra\/courses\/_285117_1\/outline\/edit\/document\/_4351943_1?courseId=_285117_1&amp;view=content&amp;search=discussion\">Group Discussion Board<\/a> page<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using groups to filter assessments for marking.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Gradebook, click on the Assignment you are reviewing and then click the arrow next to &#8220;All Students.&#8221; This will display all the group sets you have created within the module.
