{"id":10041,"date":"2021-08-16T16:41:50","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T15:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/?p=10041"},"modified":"2022-10-20T11:56:16","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T10:56:16","slug":"wellbeing-tips-from-edge-hills-digital-student-interns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/2021\/08\/16\/wellbeing-tips-from-edge-hills-digital-student-interns\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellbeing tips from Edge Hill&#8217;s Digital Student Interns\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wellbeing: The state of being comfortable, happy, or healthy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Happiness, comfort, and good health is a goal which stands at the heart of success; the Digital Student Interns have shared some of the ways in which they achieve good emotional and physical wellbeing\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First up is having time to <strong>relax<\/strong>&#8211; sometimes this falls into each day or week, and other times this means scheduling \u2018down-time\u2019 into your to-do list or timetable! It is easy to focus on productivity and being busy, but rest is imperative for the body to rebuild and regrow. Within this, comes <strong>sleep<\/strong>! It is without question that maintaining a regular sleep schedule (where possible) and getting between 7 and 10 hours of sleep per night, helps us to feel energised and positive each day. Additionally, some interns have suggested that listening to <strong>podcasts, audio-books, or using the Headspace<\/strong> mobile app have helped them to be mindful, and focus on relaxation. <strong>Getting outside<\/strong> and breathing in some fresh air, feeling the sun on your skin, and perhaps going for a short (or long) walk can provide an unrivalled boost to the system too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2021\/08\/1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Walking boots image. \" class=\"wp-image-10047\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2021\/08\/1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2021\/08\/1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2021\/08\/1-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2021\/08\/1-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/learningedge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/130\/2021\/08\/1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staying hydrated by <strong>drinking water<\/strong>, as well as maintaining a <strong>healthy and balanced diet full of fruits and vegetables<\/strong> is another popular way to stay happy and healthy. Not only is water the elixir of life and is imperative for surviving, keeping fluids up is the key to thriving each day too- flushing out the toxins, battling those nasty headaches and supporting the basic needs of the body. The vitamins and minerals packed into fruits and vegetables too provide nurture to our bodies- whether it\u2019s a smoothie every morning, some dried mango as an easy snack for on-the-go or a plate full of salad-goodness for your evening meal! Why not check out <strong>\u2018Box of Broadcasts\u2019<\/strong> with your Edge Hill student login and watch your favourite shows for free online, there is something on there for everyone. The top picks for the interns are Gavin and Stacey, Disney Films, Marvel, and Brooklyn99! TV not your thing? Immersing yourself in a <strong>good book<\/strong> might feed your happiness- <strong>Catalyst<\/strong> at the heart of Edge Hill campus has a wide range of fictional and non-academic based books and magazines which may spark your interest. In fact, there is a brand new \u2018fiction for fun\u2019 section coming to the bottom floor of Catalyst where you can browse your favourite books. Personally, I love a fiction book, but some of the Interns suggested that books based on their hobbies and passions, such as Greek mythology, crafts or astronomy tickle their fancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, there was a strong consensus among the Digital Interns that getting our bodies moving was the key to physical <em>and <\/em>emotional wellbeing. Some of us love going to the <strong>gym<\/strong>, some favoured <strong>swimming<\/strong>, a few were partial to <strong>dancing<\/strong> like no-one is watching, <strong>yoga<\/strong>, <strong>gym classes<\/strong>, and others loved a quick <strong>10-minute workout from Youtube<\/strong>.
