Freshers’ 2009

I realise that now is the time when all of you are starting to wonder when your course will start and what will happen during Freshers’ Week. I’ve written this blog to give you all some of the essential bits you need to know.

All Social Work students – Enrol on Tuesday 1st September 2009

Students moving into Halls of Residence

Welcome Sunday – 20th September 2009
This day is for students who will be living on campus in Halls of Residence to collect your keys and enrol on your course. To reduce queuing times key collection and enrolment is done alphabetically by surname in timed slots. These times will be in your Welcome booklet which you will receive shortly. The Students’ Union also have some activities planned for Welcome Sunday so feel free to come along even if you’re not living on-campus.

Students living off-campus or commuting from home

Nursing, Midwifery, ODP and Paramedic Practice Enrolment
Thursday 17th September
This day is for non-residential students only. You will be sent more details nearer the time but remember that this date is before Freshers’ Week starts.

Early Years, Primary, Key Stage 2/3 and Secondary Education Enrolment Friday 18th September
This day is for non-residential students only. You will be sent more details nearer the time but remember that this date is before Freshers’ Week starts.

Faculty of Arts and Sciences Enrolment
Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd September
These days are for non-residential students only. You will receive further details nearer the time with your exact enrolment date and time, these dates are during Freshers’ Week.

All students
Freshers’ Week – Monday 21st – Friday 25th SeptemberThis is a week of activities organised by your course leaders, department and the Students’ Union to get you started with your course and student life. There are lots of activities taking place and you must ensure that you attend all those organised by your department.

What happens next?
Starting from Thursday 20th August, I will be sending out your Welcome Booklet which contains the essential information for enrolment, please read this booklet carefully to make sure you bring everything you need. The booklets are colour coded by Faculty as follows:

Faculty of Arts and Sciences – Purple
Faculty of Education – Blue
Faculty of Health – Red/Pink

Along with these booklets you will receive a confirmation letter from Admissions that you have got your place on the course, a booklet from Student Services with some forms to complete and return and the Students’ Union Guide to Freshers’ Week.

Faculty of Health and Faculty of Education students will be told when and where to enrol in their Welcome booklet.

Faculty of Arts and Sciences students will receive an additional booklet from their Department during the week commencing 31st August with details of their enrolment dates and times and also all the activities planned for Freshers’ Week.

All booklets and information will also be available on this website in PDF format for you to view and/or download

    I found the booklets in pdf version,but I didn’t find the booklet from Student Services with forms to complete and return it back and also the guide to Freshers week.I would like to know that because my post has a problem if the university could send me all the information and booklets in e-mail.
