What is FM?

FM is the universally accepted acronym for Facilities Management. The function of FM varies considerably across different organisations but there are common themes.

At Edge Hill, our core services are divided into six service areas:

  • Campus Support
  • Catering Services
  • Customer Services
  • FM Business Support
  • Housekeeping
  • Property Services

Essentially, we provide the fundamental support services to facilitate delivery of our core business (education). These services include heating, lighting, water, maintenance, security, post services, parking, cleaning, grounds, printing and catering.

We are the largest support department at Edge Hill, with over 260 members of staff. Our staffing costs are in the region of £4million per year, with a further £4million in additional operating costs.

Our customers include all students, staff, visitors and commercial business, which equates to an estimated 50,000 customers per year. It’s a big business!

We will shortly publish our Customer Care Charter which will confirm and further explain our commitment to provide all our customers with an accessible and inclusive service.

We aim to get it right first time, every time, on time. Sometimes we may get things wrong, and if we do, we will apologise and do our very best to put things right. We will publish our revised Customer Complaints procedure very soon.

We are committed to providing you with an excellent customer experience and we will achieve success through customer care. If you have any suggestions on ways we can improve our services we would be very happy to receive them.
