Hungry at Edge Hill?

It is a reasonable thought that at any given time in any day, you are going to be hungry.
Of course you have the option of having something at home if you are self catering, but what if your not? Or you just want to try something different?

Well, within the HUB, they offer a Starbucks, which serves some amazing coffee, A Grab & Go sandwich outlet with some succulent food and A traditional hot food servery offering traditional dishes, vegetarian options, live theatre cooking / cook to order, salads, soups and desserts.
There is also a McColls situated right near to the Starbucks, if you feel like just doing a bit of shopping.

Additionally, there is Bar area opposite the hub, with a shop next door similar to McColls.
Next to those three is a food outlet called Nom, which can serve you Pizza, Burgers and all manner of fast food for reasonable pricing.

The University also offers a cyber café in the Faculty of Education building which holds an excellent menu and lakeside view.

If however, none of these take your fancy, the nearby town of Ormskirk has many shopping outlets like Iceland, Tesco and Morrisons, as well as a McDonalds, Fish and Chip shops and a Dominos

So worry not, you’ll find something that will satisfy your hunger

Break Time is Over

Well, break time is now over, and semester two has officially begun.
It has come to my attention that the post I had made for last week has disappeared.
I’m not quite sure how this as happened, or where it has gone but I’m confident I’ll find it again. Most troubling.

On the plus side, it has taught me that if it appears work is going to go awry, then you need to make sure it is saved multiple times and in many different locations.

Computers, as we all know can be unreliable. This is a given fact. So, when your doing your work at Uni always make sure to copy your work to multiple places so that way if anything goes wrong, you’ll always be in the blue.

On the plus side, as I pointed out in my missing blog, I am now 20!
Woot!

I definetly feel much older now.
Although I did not celebrate it here at the University, there are many facilities for you to celebrate at.

There is a bar on site of the University, and a fast food restaurant.
Additionally, there are multiple pubs off site which are within walking distance.
Well worth any journey, or so I am told.

Hitting your head against the back of a wall is not a comforting sensation

Return to the Uni

I’m back

Yes, I know it is not Thursday, and by the time this comes out, it will barely scrape by as friday, but I have been on my famed 250 miles trip back to university from home!

And now, I have returned. I did have a rather wonderful weekend at Chislehurst caves at the weekend, where I went LARPing. I may explain more in other Blogs, but for now I shall sum up saying it’s roleplaying in real life. I myself became an Earth Elf Wizard.

But, I am now back sitting in the comfort of my Room, my rent has been paid for for this semester, and I can start budgeting my student finance for the rest of this semester. It’s a fair bit, and I need to make sure I have sufficient money to last me till april, and to get home.
That includes food, clothing, washing and course items.
All these things are important to consider when budgeting.

I shall get more onto Budgeting on another blog, but for now, I shall simply leave you with two lovely video’s I have taken part in for other students course work.

There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes

–Friday Thoughts —
“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Moving Forward for a New Year

Another year has come to pass.

2013 is over, the year has ended and made way for 2014.
There is an old belief that the Year takes on a personified form, and when the old year comes to an end, the new year is born to replace the aged man.
A lovely thought really.

But we must remember the Year 2013, and all that passed,
be it the passing of loved ones or films and media that has occured

But this will mean a new year at the University.
Although I have not been at the University long, it is still the start of a new year for me, and a continuation of my new university life.
Soon, I will be returning to the University, back to my halls to start lessons anew.
For most courses, this is a period of exams, however for those who do Animation are granted a moment of respite, as the course is purely coursework and practical work.

I’m looking forward to learning new skills in the new year, having already learnt how to create backgrounds and how to green screen, and many more skills. It’s a lot of fun and having worked this hard, I really do not regret starting university. I’ve come this far and I will not turn back.

Happy New Year for all of you!

Christmas Time!

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

Well, Christmas 2013 has been and gone, and what a Christmas it has been.
I’m home with my family and I’ve been enjoying the joy of unwrapping Christmas presents, and having traditional family food. I’ve been able to see my friends, and catch up with how they are doing, and see how their University life is going.
I got a pretty nice haul of gifts this year; some Doctor Who DVD’s, Lovecraft Books, and Tim Burton paraphernalia.

The journey home was a challenge  enough as it was.
Travelling 250 miles from Ormskirk to Witham is a challenge in and of itself.
A journey that (by public transport) can take nearly four to five hours, and involves at least four different trains.
But still, It was good to finally get home.
When you spend so far away from home, you come to realize just how much you miss it.

But at the same time, I’ve been home nearly  6 days now. I’ve also come to realize how much I love being at the university.
At Edge Hill, you get to have your own room and your own privacy.

Well, all I can say is that I cannot wait to get back to my University home,
after it re-opens on the 6th of January.

“We all change, when you think about it. We’re all different people, all through our lives, and that’s ok. That’s good, you’ve got to keep moving, so long as you remember all the people you used to be.”

Going Home Soon

So, Ladies and gentlemen, Christmas grows nearer and nearer.
A time for giving, and time to spend with your loved ones.

I, for one, am definitely looking forward to going home. Since I live over 250 miles away from home, I don’t really have an option to visit home every weekend.
But I think it’s a good thing I don’t.
It makes the heart grow fonder of home, the longer you are away.

Obviously, since I live so far away, I had to live on campus.
When I went to make my decision, there were so many options available to me.
In the end, I put Forest Court as my first option.
Mainly because A) I got my own Personal room, B) it had an En-suite, C) it had a self catering kitchen and D) it was cheap.

It has all the essentials (although those in need of a TV, you may want to bring your own. Just remember to pay your TV licence!) and is a really comfy little room.

Of course, there are other places to live. If you check out the Lovely Sophie Proyer’s Blog,
it will tell you more about another area, Chancellors Court

The circumstances of ones birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with your life that determines who you are.

A New Life, A New Route… Nearly a New Year

Hello! Welcome! Konnichiwa! Salve! Hola! Hallo! Ni Hao! nunqneH! Vendui!

…. Yeah I think that will do

So, After these many welcomes, I wish to introduce you to my very first Blog post for this prestigious University. It is my hope to keep you updated with the life and adventure of this simple, humble student and the experiences he faces in this new world that is Edge Hill University.

Of course, a little bit about myself.

I don't look at all tired in this picture...
I don’t look at all tired in this picture…

I’m from Essex, on the outskirts of Chelmsford in a little town called Witham. For years I slumbered and went about my daily tasks,
battling through school, and being a carer for my mother. At the same time, I had (and still do) to battle with Tourettes (Don’t worry, it’s just random movement, no swearing… unless I’ve  hit something during a spasm… then I swear a bit)
and dealing with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Autism.

I’m also an Actor, and spend a lot of time Cosplaying (dressing up and running around as characters from Films/TV/Books/Video Games etc) and singing, as well as Voice Acting
I’ve done a fair share of stuff

I also do Youtube…. This is my most Popular Video…

Then, I finished College. I was done. I had a full set of GCSE’s and A-Levels. So, what to do with my life. Well, University certainly seemed like an option, but surely I wanted a mini gap year first, right?

Well, I did just that but still the questions lingered: Where would I GO for university?
I looked around everywhere, then finally! I saw where I could go. Edge Hill.

250 ish miles up north seemed a lot, but after a taster week here, I was hooked.

I HAD to come HERE
So I have. It was hard to leave home, make no mistake. But right now, It’s worth it.
Every single penny.
So, I look forward to speaking more, and shall post more soon.
I will post regularly on Thursdays, so today is a one off for now!

Toodles!
