Good evening everybody!
I hope you have had a lovely weekend. As I finish university next week, my friends and I enjoyed our Saturday night at Edge Hill’s graduation ball and we were NOT disappointed! The past 3 years have gone by too fast. However, a night like this while being surrounded by close friends made it the perfect way to finish university.
Before heading to Aintree Racecourse, we all enjoyed some champagne and took some group photographs. We had one rule for the night – don’t talk about leaving university because we do NOT want to leave!
The venue at Aintree consisted of 2 rooms – both with DJs and entertainment. Our table was right next to the dance floor and it had a fantastic view of the racecourse below. Each table seated 10 people, however it was easy to walk around to speak to others nearby.
Even though there were a few days of typical British weather, we were lucky that the sun came out just in time! The dinner itself was deeeeelicious. I chose the vegetarian option – roasted carrot hummus, Moroccan chick pea stew and a chocolate tart for dessert! We danced the night away on the dance floor in between courses and after dessert, until it was time to head towards Edge Hill’s student union bar. The SU was decorated like a marquee and there was a sale on drinks for everyone who attended the ball.
Edge Hill’s 2019 graduation ball was a night to remember, thanks to everybody at the university who was involved in its organisation! Until next time…
Last saturday saw Edge Hill’s annual graduation ball, and as a third year and soon to be graduate I went. It was at Aintree Racecourse which is a 15 minute train ride away from Ormskirk so I got the train there and back. Tickets for the event were £40.00 and for that you got a 3 course dinner and live music. The 3 course dinner was alright as the mains and dessert were definitely better than the starter and the live music was good even if I didn’t stop for all of the dancing.
As well as the three course dinner and live music there was also a bar and a photography company the students union had hired to take photos of people at the event. I had some done and I’m rather impressed with the results so I’ve ordered a digital copy and two hard copies for keep sakes. Unfortunately I can’t really upload these here as they have copyright watermarks on them. However, I did take some photos of my own on my iPod and these are below.

This is a selfie I took when I was at the dinner table

This was the starter in the three course dinner. The bread really let it down in my opinion.
The main course of the three course dinner, i had it dry as I don’t really like gravy much
The best thing about the three course dinner…the chocolate dessert 😉
The diet pepsi with coke that cost me £9.60
My graduation ball ticket.
I have to say that whilst the starter may not not have been very good and that I was ripped off price wise at the bar when I bought a diet pepsi with two shots of rum in it, I’m definitely glad I went and managed to go home with a guy and a girl from my course who went along with her boyfriend so thankfully I didn’t have to go home alone (something I was worried about beforehand). When it’s your turn to go the graduation ball – go because it’s worth it, even if your friends aren’t bothered like most of mine weren’t.
