Choosing the best university for you!

Hi everyone 🙂

Those of you in year 12 are now going to be thinking about universities and whether that would be a good option for you or not. As well as those of you who have already applied for university and are now deciding a firm and insurance choice. This can be quite a daunting task and I know that some of you will find this a tough decision to make so here is some advice I thought would be useful.

The first thing I would say is that you should make sure that you choose the right university for you and remember to factor in all the pros and cons of each university you have. For example, distance from home, cost, the course you want to take, whether you prefer a city or a campus like Edge Hill. Especially factor in the distance from home, more importantly how much it would cost to get home if you wanted to go home.

One thing that you shouldn’t do is to choose a university based on where your friends are going or where you feel pressured to go to. Always make sure that the decision you make is the one you want to make even if that means deciding uni isn’t right for you or if you want a gap year.

When looking at universities if you still aren’t sure then go back and have a second look, every first Wednesday of every month there is campus tours for prospective students so if your still unsure then this is definitely something to take into consideration.

Research the course you want to do in good detail, the modules that are featured as well as how each module is assessed. Also, it’s a good idea to research what career options can arise from the course you have chosen and if that’s something you can imagine yourself pursuing.

Hope this is helpful

Ellie
