So freshers week is officially over which means that the real work has to start! Actual lectures with actual work to do! This can be quite daunting if you have never done something like this before as it is very self directed. The first day of school there was someone there to tell you where to go and what you needed to bring. Uni isn’t like that you are expected to read something called the student handbook. When I first started I had no idea that these even existed! They are basically booklets that explain the agenda for each week and what you will be required to bring or do. You are expected to have looked at this prior to your class and acted appropriately on whatever you are expected to do.
For the first few weeks the tutors will be understanding that this is a new environment and it will take a while to get used to it but after a while they will expect you to have got used to it and therefore be self sufficient. Don’t think that because they are not there holding your hand every step of the way that they are not going to help you, they will be wiling to help you as long as you’re willing to try. If you have followed the guidelines they have set and attempted to do all the work then they will be more than willing to arrange a tutorial to help you out if you may need it.
My advice for this week would be to ask any questions that you may have before it is too late and make sure that you are organised with what you need to be doing as you don’t want to get behind on work in the first week.
