This week I’m going to focus on the different types of accommodation in and around campus. Here is the link to accommodation information on the Edge Hill website.
There are many different types of halls on campus, ranging from shared bathroom facilities in back halls to en-suite rooms in Founders and Chancellors court.
In main halls, there is Clough, Stanley, Lady Margaret and John Dalton. There are 195 rooms that are catered with shared bathroom facilities. These rooms cost £101 per week and all bills will be included – the balance for catered meals will be loaded to your university card which can be spent in venues on campus.
In back halls, there is Eleanor Rathbone, Lady Openshore, Katherine Fletcher, Margaret Bain and EM Butterworth. Some of these are catered and the same price as main halls, but the others are self-catered and cost only £65 per week. These also have shared bathroom facilities.
Next there is Forest court, where some of the rooms are en-suite and some have shared bathroom facilities. The prices are either £89 or £79 per week, depending on whether you have an en-suite. These rooms are self-catered.
Finally on campus, there is Chancellors, Founders and Graduates court which is £112 per week and all rooms in this accommodation are en-suite. These halls are also self-catered.
There is also the choice to live off campus, with many student properties being available in Ormskirk. The prices vary and locations are fairly close to the campus, with most places being within a 30 minute walk to the campus. This year, I am currently living in student flats above Iceland that are £130 per week with all bills included, en-suite facilities and a cleaner (most places don’t have a cleaner!).
Hopefully you will meet some great people while on campus that you will want to move in with – it makes it a lot easier when planning to move in with friends in the future!
