{"id":161,"date":"2025-06-10T12:19:39","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T11:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/fin\/?p=161"},"modified":"2025-06-10T12:19:39","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T11:19:39","slug":"end-of-academic-year-round-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/fin\/2025\/06\/10\/end-of-academic-year-round-up\/","title":{"rendered":"End of Academic Year round up!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the teaching over for another (academic) year, we\u2019ve got time to take a breather and look at what is coming up for the Fiction Writer\u2019s Network in the next few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ailsa Cox\u2019s story \u2018Poltergeist\u2019, which the network workshopped earlier in the year, will be published in the next issue of the Manchester Review, due at the end of June, so please do look out for that! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themanchesterreview.co.uk\/\">Issue 26 &#8211; Th https:\/\/www.themanchesterreview.co.uk\/e Manchester ReviewThe Manchester Review<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth Baines has two publications coming up: a collaborative mini-collection from Confingo, <em>Five Different Stories About One Thing<\/em>, hopefully due out in the autumn, and a collection from Gold SF, <em>The Mountain and Other Stories<\/em>,&nbsp;which includes a novella, which will come out next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"304\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/fin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/408\/2025\/06\/Book-cover.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/fin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/408\/2025\/06\/Book-cover.jpeg 304w, https:\/\/blogs.edgehill.ac.uk\/fin\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/408\/2025\/06\/Book-cover-203x300.jpeg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Talking of Gold SF, a reminder that AJ Ashworth\u2019s collection <em>Maybe the Birds<\/em> comes out on 19<sup>th<\/sup> August \u2013 more info here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/series\/GP4\/goldsmiths-press--gold-sf\/\">https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/series\/GP4\/goldsmiths-press&#8211;gold-sf\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And of course, we will be holding the launch of that collection here at Edge Hill University on <strong>October 21<sup>st<\/sup> in the Arts Centre <\/strong>\u2013 so get those dates in your diaries!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other Events news, there will be an online event with ENSFR authors celebrating recent publications,<strong> 6-8 p.m. on June 24th<\/strong>, which hasn&#8217;t gone onto the ENSFR website yet but should do soon.\u00a0Ailsa Cox will be interviewed about <em>Precipitation<\/em> and Chris Rose might be another familiar face to some of you.
