It\u2019s the \u2018big 4\u2019, plus host country Norway&#8230; <\/p>\n<p><strong>NORWAY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This does sound rather like <em>You Raise Me Up<\/em>, which in turn sounded a lot like <em>How Great Thou Art<\/em>. Norwegian group Secret Garden recorded the original of <em>YRMU<\/em> many years before Westlife did one of their lifeless cover versions.  If you haven\u2019t heard it then be sure to, as Brian Kennedy does a great job on lead vocals.  Anyway, the point I\u2019m trying to make is that the Norwegian song this year is very anthemic and sounds rather like <em>YRMU<\/em>! I have already highlighted this week how good the presentation of the song is on television, and so, with an early spot in the final I\u2019d be really surprised if it flops\u2026 and not totally surprised if Norway won again&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/n1PAzSiz4PI&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/n1PAzSiz4PI&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>GERMANY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What is with the accent, I hear you cry\u2026<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/i8N1mvwXnP0&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/i8N1mvwXnP0&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Apparently (geek fact alert!), this is the most searched for song of the ESC this year, according to Google. It\u2019s also the firm second favourite.  Best thing they have sent in years, but will it take the title back to Germany for the first time since 1982?  <\/p>\n<p><strong>FRANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Cup Of Life<\/em> was a song that Ricky Martin did for the World Cup many years ago. This year France have sent their song for the World Cup as their entry for ESC2010, and I think it sounds very much like the Ricky Martin track.  If everyone is going football crazy at the moment it might capture the zeitgeist ahead of the kick-off in South Africa next month&#8230; <\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/vfmTQK40yec&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/vfmTQK40yec&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>SPAIN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Spain lost the Eurovision plot many years ago, and they have struggled to get it back. The <em>toys <\/em>are very much back in town, for what is a rather bizarre song&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/yNbmukzBrns&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/yNbmukzBrns&amp;hl=en_GB&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><strong>UNITED KINGDOM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s NO WAY that the UK are going to win, but Josh has equipped himself well this week here in Olso, and I haven\u2019t heard anyone say a bad word about him.  The same cannot be said for the song, but we\u2019ll not worry about that now.
