We are really\npleased that you have decided to study with us at Edge Hill University and\nparticularly in the EYE Department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Early Years Education Department has some key\nstrengths identified by a variety of quality procedures and our own students\u2019 comments\n(NSS\/SSCF 2018\/19 meetings):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strengths of the Department include<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Quality of overall student experience (strong\nISS\/NSS scores and highly positive Bristol Online Survey End of programme\nresponses and Student Staff Consultative Forum Minutes). For the past 3 years\nnow, our students are 100% satisfied with our programmes overall. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Successful academic achievement across all\nprogrammes \u2013 you will get there and do really well in your chosen career!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Strong retention across all programmes \u2013 we have\ngood support mechanisms in place for all students, so please talk to your tutor\nteam if there is anything you are concerned about, so that we can signpost you\nand help, where possible. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Consistent high quality and complimentary\npartner feedback and a strong collaborative working relationship (Partnership\nBOS feedback and PQO Reports). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Consistent highly positive External Examiner\nfeedback \u2013 all our programmes are reviewed by an External Examiner. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Partnership Training and Development\nOpportunities across the partnership, with future plans to enhance and develop\nas an area of enterprise \u2013 we offer free CPD, so please do look out for this\nopportunity alongside your studies.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&#8216;Forest Edge&#8217; and outdoor learning developments\n\u2013 we are early years, so you will be outside often! <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cross-Faculty collaborations to support teaching\nand research \u2013 your tutor team are researchers, so ask them about their work\nand read their publications in journals, books etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An investment in Paediatric First Aid Training\nfor all Final Year and PGCE students to comply with DfE \u2018Millie\u2019s Mark\u2019 with\nMillie\u2019s Trust Foundation at no extra cost to you. You will be thoroughly\n\u2018employable\u2019.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Distinctive Department for Early Years Education,\nwhich we are very proud of and you will benefit greatly from being immersed in\nearly years \u2018ness\u2019<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Our students tell us that we are welcoming,\nsupportive, engaging, knowledgeable, inspiring and fun. I do hope you will also\nthink this, but if not \u2013 tell us. Do look out for our \u2018Meet the Team\u2019 events\nand come along.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I would also like to share with your the \u2018Vision for\nEarly Years Education Department\u2019 as you are an essential part of this vision\nand ethos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Early Years Education overarching vision is to raise the status and quality of the early years workforce (ECEC workforce) and to work in partnership with employers and early years settings\/schools across England, to ensure high quality teaching and learning, reflective practice, leadership and research is at the heart of our early years training and professional development programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This vision is based on our aspiration to lead early\nyears research, learning and teaching on both national and international levels\nthrough providing a dynamic student-focused learning environment, offering our\nstudents (both undergraduate and postgraduate) high quality learning\nexperiences that are inextricably linked to the needs and interests of young\nchildren, who are at the heart of our early years provision. We aim to provide\nan outstanding, sustainable and inclusive learning environment through\ncontinuous enhancement of our provision by responding to identified learners&#8217;\nneeds, developments in the fields of research, wider community interests,\nincluding those of employers, while ensuring a thoughtful, process of\nreflection and evaluation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope that you thoroughly enjoy your studies with us\nand that you engage with the \u2018student voice\u2019 opportunities offered to you to\nget the very best from your teaching and learning experiences \u2013 if I have not\nshared this with you during induction, I will talk to you when I teach you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please do feel free to pop in and see me at any point in\nyour studies and let me know the good things you are doing and if any issues\narise for you. We\nare sponsored by the National Education Union and have opportunities for\nstudents on education based courses or those who are interested in education to\njoin. We offer training sessions based on your interests and have a number\nplanned for the academic year to come focusing on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Supporting children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)<\/li><li>Behaviour  Management<\/li><li>Children&#8217;s  Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC)<\/li><li>Supporting  Children&#8217;s Mental Health<\/li><li>Inequality in Education<\/li><li>Racism in Education<\/li><li>Supporting Looked After Children (LAC).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Every time you attend a session you come away with a certificate\nto demonstrate your attendance and commitment to your personal and professional\ndevelopment which can help your CV to stand out.
