EXPANDED CINEMA PERFORMANCE AT THE ANN ARBOR EXPERIMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL<\/b>
\nMARCH 2019<\/p>\n

Milk Drops 2, was an expanded cinema performance as part of the \u2018Off the Screen!\u2019 exhibition opening at the Ann Arbor Arts Centre as part of ANN ARBOR FILM FESTIVAL, Michigan, 28 March 2019.<\/p>\n

The performance consisted of a double projection using both 16mm analogue film and digital projectors. Mxing and overlaying analogue and digital imagery together. The imagery consisted of milk drops placed on clear film at roughly each frame using a science pipette.<\/p>\n

CGI OP ART AT THE TATE GALLERY LIVERPOOL<\/b>
\nMARCH 2019<\/p>\n

In response to the Tate’s Op Art in Focus display, Alex, presented an interactive installation, focusing on illusion, repetition, geometric forms and colour.<\/p>\n

Titled ‘Optic Space Block<\/strong>‘ is a suspended animated cube from which to play and experiment with spatial illusion. It combines aspects of 3-D CGI technology, projection, fine art and public interaction, using aspects of colour, space and illusion design techniques to explore ideas of a physical and perceptual space.<\/p>\n

ALEX AND JAMES TALK AT FACT<\/b>
\nNOVEMBER 2012<\/p>\n

Alex and James provided an evening talk entitled, ‘Moving Horizontals & Digital Distance’ whereby they discussed their current artwork, ideas, research and practice.<\/p>\n

Alex’s work raises questions relating to Materialism, abstraction and the digital medium and he discussed, through practical example, the concept of ‘space as material’ in relation to 3D CGI animation, and the ‘myth of the virtual’.<\/p>\n

James discussed notions relating to his work and research which has a focus around ideas about surface and perceptual effects that occur for the viewer from viewing work that deals with the flatness of the screen.<\/p>\n

And the audience had a chance to enjoy the very comfy seats.<\/p>\n
