• 90th Anniversary

Thanks to Peter Wilson for bringing in this envelope with a 90th anniversary stamp on the Alumni Weekend.

  • Anniversary Celebrations Weekend

Today the Ormskirk campus hosts members of Edge Hill’s alumni community to celebrate the 125th anniversary. And tomorrow, staff will join for an Anniversary Celebration day. I’ll be trying to pop down over the weekend to take photos and report what’s going on. Update: a few more pictures from Saturday.

  • 125 banners

I’ve not walked in the front entrance of Edge Hill for a week or two so didn’t notice when these two huge banners with “1885-2010” and “125 Years” went up but I took a photo earlier. I really like it!

  • Helena Normanton

She was a passionate believer in social reform, a pioneer in the legal profession and a champion of women’s rights to rival Emmeline Pankhurst. Today I’d like to look back at some of the things I’ve posted. First up a visualisation of what I’ve written. I’ve used Wordle to…

  • Gym Knickers

One day to go and this is what it all comes down to. When I first went up to the university archives in the Library and spotted these I knew this would be how the blog ended. So here they are – a pair of authentic* Edge Hill gym knickers size 22″ waist as modelled…

  • The College

From a very early prospectus presented by The County Council for the County Palatine of Lancaster comes the following: The College offers a Three-Year course for men and women students preparing to teach in Primary and Secondary schools. Edge Hill College, which was founded in 1885 in Liverpool, was transferred to new buildings in September,…

  • Manifesto for Change and Race Online 2012

In September, Edge Hill will be hosting a debate on Britain’s Digital Future led by Professor Tanya Byron: The role of the internet, safety online and digital inclusion are some of the topics that will be debated at an interactive panel discussion with some of the country’s most eminent leading voices on digital media. Edge…
