We’ve been working hard over the last few months preparing to welcome new students to Edge Hill this September. We wanted our induction to represent what is most important to you, our students, so we have been gathering feedback from current Edge Hill students, asking what advice they have found most useful and how they would like to receive this information. We attended the Student Feedback Carousel organised by your Student Union, we spoke to you face to face, we sent out surveys and we listened to you on social media.

Over summer you might have seen our pre-entry video, introducing you to the department and what we do. Now that you’ve arrived, there are a few things we’d like to share with you to help you get off to a great start at Edge Hill!

The next few weeks will see a number of activities taking place in and around the library. We have library tours running all week (from 21st September) which are led by our current students who know the service best. Tours will be running every day from 11am-2pm.

Our staff are also on hand to welcome you at our Get Started stand in the Hub throughout your first week (11am-3pm). Here, you can pick up handouts for our opening hours, learning spaces and information about finding a book. (Don’t forget you can also come and speak to us at freshers fair to pick up some special freebies!)

Before you start your course, you will also have your Learning Services induction, with other students from your course. In this session, you will meet your subject librarian, one of our student advisors and we will provide you with your subject cards, which contain a link to your subject webpages and the contact details for your subject librarian.

If you’ve missed anything or simply want to find out more, head to our website where we have our ‘website takeover’. All of the induction information you need to know is on the front page! If you’re a returning student, there is still a link to our existing pages.

The induction webpages also include links to our new Learning Service videos coverinon airg:

When you start lectures, you’ll be using Learning Edge to find all of your subject resources and essential course details (your tutor might call this area Blackboard). To help you use Learning Edge, we’re providing drop in sessions every weekday from 28th September – 16th October at 8:30am, 1pm and 4:30pm in the University Library (Group room 2, on the ground floor).

Welcome to Edge Hill! We hope you have a fantastic start to the year and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via Ask Us.
