Hi everyone and welcome to my first ever blog,

My name’s Christopher, I’m 19 and I’m from West Kirby on the Wirral. I’m just beginning a course in Computing (Software Systems) here at Edge Hill University.
Today I’m going to talk to you about why I chose Edge Hill to study computing at Edge Hill

I have always been interested in computing from an early age when I realised how central IT was to everyday life. I left school after GCSE and embarked upon a twelve year placement in IT. After finishing my year I did a Btec National Diploma for ICT Practitioners National Diploma at College.I then decided that I wanted to take a degree in computing and chose Edge Hill for a number of different reasons.

• Friendly Atmosphere– Edge Hill is like a community I have not spoken to one unfriendly person since I came here. Edge Hill offers an open door policy, if you get stuck you can go and see a tutor and if doors open you can go in and speak to them if the doors closed you can email them for an appointment.
• Location- Edge Hill is located about 5 minutes from public transport links from there you can get to anywhere in the Uk this is really useful if you got placements or you just want to pop home to see
  family. Theres a free bus called the Edge Link that is free to all students that go to edge hill
• Smaller Class Sizes- Most university’s you are known as a number but at Edge Hill your known as name and you are assigned a personal tutor.
• Beautiful Landscapes and Buildings – Edge Hill University is unlike any other University it has a mix of modern and old original buildings with up to date facilities. The grounds are well kept and have been designed to encourage wildlife and fit in with the surrounding area. This all encourages learning and is probably one of the reasons why Edge Hill is so successful.

Next week I be discussing fresher’s week and the events that have been going on campus. I am also going to look at what’s been going on my course the clubs and societies that are avalible at Edge Hill
